IEEP is an independent not for profit research organisation dedicated to advancing an environmentally sustainable Europe through the analysis and development of policy, and dissemination of research results. The London office was founded in 1980, and the Brussels office in 2001. IEEP has a strong reputation among national and European policy-makers and NGOs for its expertise on environmental and related sectoral policies, and for the independence and integrity of its work. IEEP undertakes research and consultancy on the development, implementation and evaluation of environmental and related policies in Europe and the world beyond. IEEP has significant experience of working in large consortia, including both FP and Horizon 2020 projects. IEEP’s work areas include: Green and Circular Economy; Governance; Pollution; Natural Resources and Waste; Water and the Marine Environment; and Europe in the Global Environment. In recent years, IEEP has developed significant expertise related to marine litter, including on policy and legislative instruments, market-based instruments, costs of action and inaction, and socioeconomic aspects of the marine litter issue (see Relevant Publications and Relevant Previous Projects for more information).
